Fever ends in a week; the joint pain can last months or years. Chikungunya rarely kills, but it can disable. Management is supportive, and pacing matters.

There is no specific antiviral. Care is fluid, fever and pain control with paracetamol first (NSAIDs only once dengue is excluded, since the two circulate together).
